Press release
Sferical AI today launched Sferical One, a shared AI supercomputer in Sweden built for AstraZeneca, Ericsson, Saab, SEB and Wallenberg Investments, with SKF as strategic partner. The companies will use it to develop and apply AI in their respective industries.
Sferical One gives the participating companies shared access to advanced AI computing capacity in Sweden at a time when industrial demand for compute is growing rapidly.
Rather than each company building the same infrastructure on its own, Sferical pools investment, computing capacity and expertise across industries. This gives the participating companies both the scale needed for increasingly demanding AI development and greater control over critical infrastructure.
The system is an NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD built on 16 NVIDIA DGX GB300 systems. The system has been running since late summer 2026. Sferical AI will also build services based on NVIDIA Nemotron open multimodal AI models. Because the models are open, members can inspect model weights, fine-tune models for their own use cases, and run them in environments that meet their security requirements.
“Sferical One enables the companies to train and run AI models at a larger scale on a sovereign platform. What makes Sferical unique isn’t just the technology, but that several of Sweden’s largest companies share the same infrastructure, develop solutions together and share knowledge across industries. That creates value beyond the infrastructure itself,” says Jenny Nordlöw, CEO of Sferical AI.
The companies are now beginning to apply the infrastructure. Current areas of exploration include drug discovery at AstraZeneca, foundation models for telecommunications at Ericsson, defence applications at Saab, financial services at SEB, and industrial applications at SKF such as predictive maintenance, quality control and R&D.
“AI will be a critical component of Swedish industry’s future competitiveness. Sferical One will help some of Sweden’s leading companies stay at the forefront of that development. It is a long-term investment in the capabilities and expertise we will need to compete in the future,” says Marcus Wallenberg, Chair of Wallenberg Investments.
“Sweden has always built great things — a country of ten million produced so many world-changing companies. This shared supercomputer will bolster even more, mobilizing the researchers, entrepreneurs and scientists to build the Swedish AI ecosystem,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO, NVIDIA.
